It's about time I had my own photo up on the About page of my site, it's been floating around on my social media pages long enough... camera shy I guess! :oP

Having designed this circular sign, it was a little trickier to source someone who could create a sign in this shape for outdoor use in the Penparcau Community Centre’s award winning garden. The order went through to the customers selected company after sourcing a number of quotes to compare. The sign delivers a friendly bilingual message for the community to enjoy the garden and respect their neighbours... the signs looks pretty good too :)

It seems that the virus falls into every conversation and action in life at the moment... well almost. Such a small thing that has caused so much upheaval in the lives of the majority of the world! Even the remotest parts of our planet have been touched in one way or another. With no sign of a vaccine, yet, and treatments being developed slowly, it seems this virus will hang over us for quite some time to come...
There is a level of incompetency that I can’t ignore across many governments, so called developed countries, who seem to cling onto the same capitalist outlook which drives their need to maintain an economy at the cost of the wellbeing of the people. I hope I’m just being cynical, but beyond my outlook on this pandemic, I hope we can think of a future where money isn’t everything, where poverty can be eradicated and we pool our resources to help each other instead of scrambling to the finish line to claim victory over others.
Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now… 'Stay Safe' - probably the catchphrase for the year 2020?

As schools look towards reopening I’ve been commissioned to design some banners to welcome back the children to their local primary schools while reminding them to stay safe. It’s a positive step, which I hope works out for all involved.

Just when I though the pandemic was scuppering my work efforts I get a call to design COVID19 floor stickers! As social distancing is considered the key to prevent catching the virus it is prudent to remind people to maintain a safe distance. There’s no bright side to see at the moment, but the doom-and-gloom does seem to bring people together - even when there are some who would try to take advantage… Human nature perhaps?

Since the COVID19 lockdown things here have been quiet to say the least. However, I was fortunate to have been commissioned to produce some work for a PhD student. Illustrations were required for a thesis including a Conspectus and a Welsh illustration of different names for the Lapwing bird (commonly referred to as a Cornchwiglod in Welsh). The work was challenging to produce and something I had never done before, but it was also enjoyable.
As for the pandemic, at the beginning of April the number of confirmed COVID19 cases reported worldwide surpassed one million. The numbers are rising as well as the deaths. 1918 saw the Spanish Flu and an estimate, published by Johnson and Mueller, implied that the Spanish flu killed 50 million, or 2.7%, of the world population at that time. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it… let us hope that the governments of the World do not ignore anything or anyone in the fight to overcome this virus?

COVID19, or Coronavirus, has made its mark in history. The impact that this virus has had across the UK and the World as a whole is worth recording. Industries have ceased to trade and this has had a knock on affect across the majority of businesses.
However, the health implications are far more dire and we can only hope that the steps taken to protect ourselves and our National Health Service will reduce the loss of life. Although our main focus is at home, poorer countries will suffer with reduced infrastructures. At the time of my entry here, it is inevitable that things will get a lot worse before they get better. For most people living through this situation is unlike anything they will have seen. Others, who are also the most vulnerable to this virus, may remember wars of the past, but are unlikely to remember anything quite like this outbreak.
12•01•2020 : The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that a novel coronavirus had caused a respiratory illness in a cluster of people in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, which had initially come to the attention of the WHO on 31st December 2019.
31•01•2020 : Is the date COVID19 was reported to have entered the UK.
Feb 2020 : Transmission within the UK was confirmed.
11•03•2020 : The World Health Organization (WHO) officially changed their classification of COVID-19 from a public health emergency of international concern to a pandemic.
18•03•2020 : It was announced that the UK would close schools to most pupils, with children of key workers and vulnerable children still able to attend.
20•03•2020 : All restaurants, pubs, clubs and indoor sport and leisure facilities were ordered to close, though delivery and take-out chains were allowed to remain open.
23•03•2020 : The UK government announced that these measures were to be tightened further, with wide-ranging restrictions made on freedom of movement, enforceable in law, resulting in the Coronavirus Act 2020.
The spread is wide and the NHS is doing its best to prepare for the worst. Let us hope that our Health Service is remembered and supported when we all come out of this pandemic...

Y TALBOT in Tregaron, Ceredigion, wanted a redesign of their Bar Menu to incorporate the different times throughout the day; Breakfast, Lunch, Childrens' Menu, Teas & Coffees, Deserts as well as Vegetarian & Vegan options. It was quite a lot to fit together, but if you pay them a visit, in person or online, you can see the results :o)

This simple little piece of work for the Reverent Lewis, of Strata Florida, is an A6 sized prayer card with a Welsh verse on one side and an English verse on the other. Some creative, yet subtle, artwork was created for the border of the card.

Just completed small job for a local Welsh author. The author wanted a cover with a montage of photos from images contained in the book. Written for Schools across the county, the book is a sneak-peak at the rich life of Pastor Dan. As most of the images I scanned were black-&-white, a colour tint was used to bring the montage together. The customer was very pleased and the customer is always right... especially in this instance! Thank you very much for your kind words.

Llanon Fish Bar opened for business, but they needed a brand and a presentable menu to help market their new business venture. With a brief meeting, held over the shop counter, we managed to tie down the main aspects of the logo and got started on the look of their menu. Good luck and keep chipping away… yeah, sorry about that line :)

Project Pick-YP is a training resource book commissioned through the Ceredigion Youth Justice and Prevention Service. It was a tight deadline, but the English version was completed in good time and the Welsh version is in the pipeline…

It should be worth noting a couple of Weddings I photographed over the summer and especially the kind words I received afterwards...
Gareth has a fantastic sense of humour and made everyone feel at ease on our wedding day. He was unobtrusive, professional and produced wonderful photographs. He captured formal staged shots as well as relaxed and quirky moments throughout the day, all of which we treasure. Thanks again Gareth.
